Description
iShares Global Government Bond USD Hedged Active ETF is an actively managed exchange-traded fund that provides exposure to a diversified portfolio of government bonds issued by sovereign entities worldwide. Its primary objective is to deliver total return, net of expenses, exceeding that of the Bloomberg Global Treasury USD Hedged Index, through strategic security selection and currency management. The fund hedges non-U.S. dollar currency exposures using forward contracts, mitigating foreign exchange risks and stabilizing returns for USD-based investors. Key holdings include U.S. Treasury securities at around 34%, followed by Japanese government bonds at 14%, Chinese government bonds at 7-8%, and issuances from France, Italy, the UK, Spain, Canada, Korea, and Germany, spanning various maturities with an average of about 8.4 years and effective duration of 4.8 years. With approximately 390 holdings across investment-grade ratings—primarily AA and A—the ETF emphasizes high-quality debt while seeking income and lower volatility through active oversight. Launched in June 2025 with net assets around $42 million, it plays a vital role in global fixed-income markets by offering diversified, hedged access to international government bonds for portfolio diversification.
