Overview
Description
Victory Government Securities Fund is a mutual fund focused primarily on providing a high level of current income while aiming to preserve principal. The fund invests at least 80% of its assets in U.S. government and agency securities, such as Treasury bills, notes, bonds, Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS), mortgage-backed securities from Ginnie Mae, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac, as well as collateralized mortgage obligations and repurchase agreements backed by government securities. Up to 20% of assets may be allocated to high-quality, non-government securities, including certain taxable municipal bonds and government-related asset-backed securities. The fund emphasizes a diversified portfolio and manages extension and contraction risks by aligning its duration closely with industry benchmarks, typically targeting an average maturity between five and ten years. It is designed for investors seeking income with minimal credit risk and generally offers higher income potential than direct investment in U.S. Treasuries, thus serving as a core fixed-income holding for those prioritizing stability in their investment portfolios.
