Description
WisdomTree WTI Crude Oil is a fully collateralised, UCITS-eligible Exchange Traded Commodity (ETC) structured as a debt security, launched in September 2006 and domiciled in Jersey. It delivers total return exposure to WTI Crude Oil futures by tracking the Bloomberg WTI Crude Oil Multi-Tenor 4W Total Return Index, which uses an equal-weight basket of three tenors beyond the nearby contract, capturing roll yield from market conditions like contango or backwardation, plus returns from cash collateral in 4-week T-Bills. Employing synthetic replication through fully funded swaps with counterparties such as Citigroup and Merrill Lynch, it is backed by high-quality government bonds held in segregated accounts at The Bank of New York Mellon, with daily mark-to-market adjustments. Featuring a low management expense ratio of 0.49%, unhedged USD base currency, and a passive long-only approach without leverage or physical delivery, this ETC avoids storage hassles while providing targeted access to WTI Crude Oil performance. In commodities markets, it serves as a benchmark for U.S. light sweet crude, influencing energy sector dynamics, inflation trends, and portfolio diversification strategies.
