Description
iShares US Mortgage Backed Securities UCITS ETF USD (Acc) is an exchange-traded fund managed by BlackRock that provides investors with targeted exposure to the U.S. fixed-income market through investment-grade mortgage-backed securities. Launched in April 2017 and domiciled in Ireland, the ETF tracks the Bloomberg US Mortgage Backed Securities Index (formerly Barclays US Mortgage Backed Securities Index) using a representative sampling methodology to replicate its performance. It primarily invests in fixed-rate, USD-denominated pass-through securities issued or guaranteed by U.S. government agencies such as Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Ginnie Mae, with maturities of at least one year and minimum ratings of BBB-/Baa3. These agency mortgage-backed securities offer income from principal and interest payments on pooled residential mortgages, featuring low credit risk akin to U.S. Treasuries due to government backing. As an accumulating fund, it reinvests dividends, holding over 1,300 securities for broad diversification within the mortgage sector. With assets under management around EUR 2.25 billion, it serves as a key tool for fixed-income allocation, emphasizing stability and yield in diversified portfolios.
