Description
iShares UK Gilts 0-5yr UCITS ETF GBP (Dist) is an exchange-traded fund that tracks the performance of an index comprising Sterling-denominated UK government bonds, known as gilts, with maturities ranging from zero to five years. Launched on 17 April 2009 and domiciled in Ireland, it is managed by iShares, part of BlackRock, and employs physical replication to hold a portfolio of approximately 19 to 25 securities, primarily issued or guaranteed by the UK government. The fund distributes income semi-annually, with a recent yield around 3.94%, and maintains a low total expense ratio of 0.07%, making it cost-efficient for investors seeking exposure to short-term UK fixed income. With assets under management exceeding £3.3 billion (or approximately €2 billion), it ranks as a very large ETF in its category, unhedged against currency risk and focused on long-only strategy without sustainability emphasis. This ETF plays a key role in providing diversified access to low-duration UK sovereign debt, offering relative stability within the broader fixed-income market due to its short maturity profile.
