Description
Borders & Southern Petroleum plc is a United Kingdom-based independent oil and gas exploration company focused on hydrocarbon prospects in the Falkland Islands. The company holds a 100% interest and operatorship in three production licenses in the South Falkland Basin, spanning nearly 10,000 square kilometers approximately 150 kilometers south-east of the islands. Established in 2004 and headquartered in London, it has conducted extensive seismic surveys, including 2,517 square kilometers of three-dimensional data, and drilled two exploration wells. The first well on the Darwin prospect in 2012 yielded a significant liquid-rich gas condensate discovery in two adjacent tilted fault blocks, Darwin East and Darwin West, situated in 2,000 meters of water and demonstrating a proven petroleum system. The second well on the Stebbing prospect revealed hydrocarbon shows in a different geological play. With a small team of around six employees, Borders & Southern Petroleum plc plays a role in frontier basin exploration, targeting low-risk, high-impact prospects surrounding the Darwin find to potentially unlock future energy resources.
