Description
Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund is an exchange-traded fund that seeks to provide investment results corresponding generally to the price and yield performance of the Consumer Staples Select Sector Index, before expenses. This index offers targeted exposure to the consumer staples sector within the S&P 500, focusing on companies classified under the Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS) in areas such as consumer staples distribution and retail, beverages, household products, food products, tobacco, and personal care products. The fund employs a replication strategy, investing substantially all of its assets—at least 95%—in the securities that comprise the index, making it non-diversified. It enables investors to gain precise access to essential goods producers and distributors, known for their stability amid economic fluctuations. With holdings typically numbering around 36 companies, the fund plays a key role in sector-specific strategies within the broader U.S. equity market, managed by State Street Global Advisors.
