Description
The Global X S&P 500 Covered Call UCITS ETF is an exchange-traded fund that employs a covered call strategy to generate income while providing exposure to the S&P 500 Index. It seeks to replicate the performance of the Cboe S&P 500 BuyWrite 15% WHT Index by holding stocks from the S&P 500 ESG Index and selling call options on the same index, which can produce higher yields particularly in volatile markets. As a UCITS-compliant ETF, it adheres to strict European regulations ensuring diversification—no single holding exceeds 10% of net asset value—liquidity, transparency, and asset segregation under independent custody, making it suitable for retail investors across the EU. Launched on July 11, 2023, by Global X under Mirae Asset Global Investments, the fund features a 0.45% expense ratio and pays monthly dividends, with recent yields around 9-10%. With assets under management near 116 million USD, it plays a key role in income-focused equity strategies, balancing S&P 500 growth potential against capped upside from options writing, primarily in large-cap U.S. sectors like technology and financials.
