Overview
Description
Valterra Platinum Limited is a South African mining company and the world's largest primary producer of platinum, accounting for approximately 38% of global annual supply. Formerly known as Anglo American Platinum Limited, it was demerged from Anglo American on 31 May 2025 and is headquartered in Johannesburg, Gauteng. The company engages in the production and supply of platinum group metals (PGMs) including platinum, palladium, rhodium, ruthenium, and iridium, as well as base metals like nickel, copper, cobalt sulphate, chrome, and precious metals such as gold and sodium sulphate. Its operations are primarily located in the Bushveld Igneous Complex, a mineral-rich region yielding PGMs, chromium, vanadium, and titaniferous magnetite. Valterra Platinum operates three mines and one joint venture, providing a complete resource-to-market service for PGMs. As a leading player in the platinum mining sector, it plays a critical role in global supply chains for automotive catalysts, fuel cells, jewelry, and industrial applications reliant on these metals.
