Description
iShares MSCI Japan USD Hedged UCITS ETF (Acc) is an exchange-traded fund domiciled in Ireland and managed by BlackRock's iShares. It tracks the MSCI Japan 100% Hedged to USD Net Total Return Index, providing exposure to large- and mid-cap Japanese equities while fully hedging Japanese yen currency risk back to US dollars using monthly FX forward contracts. This passive, physically replicated ETF employs optimized sampling to closely match the benchmark's performance, focusing on Japanese equity market returns without yen volatility for USD-based investors. As an accumulating share class, it reinvests all dividends and income, supporting long-term capital growth rather than distributions. With a total expense ratio of 0.64% and assets under management around 417 million euros, it offers a cost-effective vehicle for diversified access to Japan's key sectors, including technology, manufacturing, and consumer goods. Launched in September 2013, the fund plays a significant role in international portfolios seeking hedged developed-market equity exposure, mitigating currency fluctuations while capturing domestic Japanese stock performance. Key risks include equity market volatility, tracking error, and derivative-related counterparty exposure typical of hedged equity products.
