Description
Lithium Argentina AG is a Swiss-domiciled resource company specializing in the development and production of lithium from brine deposits in Argentina. The company operates through strategic partnerships and innovation to advance low-cost lithium projects, primarily producing lithium carbonate for lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles and energy storage systems. Its flagship asset is the Cauchari-Olaroz project in Jujuy Province, where Lithium Argentina holds a 44.8% interest via Minera Exar S.A., in partnership with Ganfeng Lithium; this operation achieved 25,400 tonnes of lithium carbonate production in 2024 and targets 30,000-35,000 tonnes in 2025. Key development projects include Pastos Grandes in Salta Province, 85% owned by the company, and Sal de la Puna, with a 65% stake, forming part of a regional growth plan aiming for up to 150,000 tonnes per annum of lithium carbonate equivalent through phased solar evaporation and advanced processing technologies. Formerly known as Lithium Americas (Argentina) Corp., it restructured in January 2025, relocating to Zug, Switzerland, and employs around 850 people. Led by CEO Sam Pigott and Executive Chairman John Kanellitsas, Lithium Argentina emphasizes corporate governance, sustainability, and exploration to meet global lithium demand.
