Description
HSBC Asia Pacific ex Japan Screened Equity UCITS ETF USD (Acc) is an accumulating exchange-traded fund that tracks the FTSE Asia Pacific ex Japan ESG Low Carbon Select Index. This index, a subset of the broader FTSE Asia Pacific ex Japan Index, focuses on companies from developed and emerging markets across the Asia Pacific region, excluding Japan, such as Australia, South Korea, India, Taiwan, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. It applies strict sustainable exclusionary criteria, screening out firms involved in tobacco, thermal coal extraction, electricity generation from fossil fuels, gambling, adult entertainment, controversial weapons, and violations of United Nations Global Compact principles. The index also weights constituents to reduce carbon emissions intensity and fossil fuel reserves exposure while enhancing FTSE Russell ESG ratings compared to its parent index. Passively managed with full physical replication, the ETF holds around 420 equities, emphasizing sectors like technology, financial services, basic materials, and consumer discretionary. Domiciled in Ireland and qualifying under Article 8 of the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation, it provides investors targeted exposure to ESG-screened equities in a key growth region.
