Overview
Description
iShares Core Emerging Markets IMI is an exchange-traded fund designed to provide broad exposure to equities from emerging market economies around the world. The fund seeks to replicate the performance of the MSCI Emerging Markets Investable Market Index (IMI), which covers large-, mid-, and small-cap companies across approximately 24 emerging markets. This approach results in a portfolio that encompasses over 3,000 constituent companies, representing about 99% of the free-float-adjusted market capitalization within these markets.
Sectors with significant representation in the index include financial services, information technology, consumer discretionary, communication services, and industrials, collectively accounting for much of the fund’s composition. Geographically, the fund is notably concentrated in China, India, Taiwan, and South Korea, which together make up a substantial portion of its holdings. Managed by BlackRock, the fund employs a physical replication strategy and maintains a low expense ratio, making it a widely used building block for diversified global portfolios. Its comprehensive coverage offers investors a straightforward method to access the growth potential and diversification benefits of developing economies while reflecting the risks and volatilities inherent in emerging markets.
