The Deal Brings Apple Cinemas' Total Number of 270-Degree Panoramic SCREENX Theaters to Ten

BURBANK, Calif., July 22, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- CJ 4DPLEX, a worldwide leading producer of premium film formats and cinema technologies, and Apple Cinemas, today announced the next phase of their partnership with the addition of five new SCREENX auditoriums, expanding Apple Cinemas total SCREENX footprint to ten premium locations.

This new agreement builds on the initial five-theater deal signed in 2024 and reflects the rapid growth of the East Coast exhibitor, which has been actively building its presence across six states since its founding in 2010. To date, Apple Cinemas has opened three SCREENX locations, Apple Cinemas Greece Ridge Mall (Rochester, NY), Apple Cinemas Warwick Mall (Warwick, RI), and Apple Cinemas White Plains City Center (White Plains, NY).

SCREENX utilizes a multi-projection cinema technology that delivers an immersive 270-degree panoramic viewing experience. By extending select scenes onto the left and right-side walls of the auditorium, the premium film format surrounds the audiences with story enhancing visuals that cannot be replicated at home and places moviegoers directly at the center of the action.

The initial release will focus on automatically detecting and blurring people and objects within videos, with additional features to follow.
