Overview
Description
The iShares China CNY Bond Index Fund (IE) Class D is an open-ended index fund within the fixed income asset class. Its primary objective is to deliver returns, combining both capital growth and income, by closely tracking the performance of the Bloomberg China Treasury + Policy Bank Index. This benchmark is composed exclusively of renminbi (CNY)-denominated bonds issued by the Ministry of Finance of the People’s Republic of China and major Chinese policy banks, including the China Development Bank, Agricultural Development Bank of China, and Export-Import Bank of China.
Notable features of the fund include its exposure to investment-grade sovereign and quasi-sovereign bonds within the rapidly growing Chinese domestic market, offering direct access to the China Interbank Bond Market. With a semi-annual income distribution policy and a total expense ratio of 0.35% per annum, the fund provides investors with regular payouts while seeking to replicate the index through physical investments.
The fund plays a significant role in global fixed income portfolios as a vehicle for diversification, particularly for those seeking exposure to China’s onshore bond sector. It addresses institutional and retail demand for direct participation in the world’s second largest bond market and serves as a key component in both emerging market debt and global sovereign bond allocations.
