Description
Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund is an exchange-traded fund that provides targeted exposure to the U.S. financial sector. The fund is designed to closely track the performance of the Financial Select Sector Index by holding a portfolio of leading U.S. financial companies across industries such as banking, insurance, capital markets, consumer finance, and mortgage real estate investment trusts. It uses a full replication approach, typically owning the constituent stocks of its underlying index. Today, Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund is used by market participants to gain diversified, sector-specific access to large and liquid financial institutions, including major banks, diversified financial services firms, and insurers. Launched in 1998 and domiciled in the United States, the fund plays a significant role as a benchmark-oriented tool for sector rotation, risk management, and tactical allocation within the broader U.S. equity market.
