Overview
Description
UBS ETF SICAV - S&P 500 Equal Weight UCITS ETF is an exchange-traded fund that offers investors exposure to the S&P 500 Equal Weight Index, a unique approach to tracking large-cap US equities. Unlike traditional market capitalization-weighted indices, this ETF allocates an identical fixed weight (0.20%) to each of the 500 companies in the S&P 500, ensuring a more diversified representation and reducing concentration risk from dominant sectors or individual stocks. The fund employs a synthetic replication strategy, using swaps to mirror the index’s performance instead of holding all underlying assets directly. This structure currently provides the benefit of exemption from US dividend withholding taxes, enhancing its efficiency. With a total expense ratio of 0.12% per annum and an accumulating distribution policy, the ETF reinvests income back into the fund. Launched in February 2025 and domiciled in Ireland, it serves investors seeking balanced exposure to the breadth of the US equity market, regardless of sector or company size dominance, and is particularly relevant amid heightened concentration in market-cap indices.
