Description
ProShares UltraPro Short QQQ is an exchange-traded fund designed to provide leveraged inverse exposure to the Nasdaq-100 Index. The fund seeks to deliver three times the opposite of the index’s daily performance, targeting short-term moves in large-cap, predominantly technology-oriented, non-financial companies listed on Nasdaq. To achieve this, ProShares UltraPro Short QQQ primarily uses derivatives such as swaps and futures rather than directly shorting the underlying securities. The ETF is used mainly by sophisticated market participants for tactical trading, hedging concentrated growth or tech-heavy equity exposure, and expressing bearish views on the Nasdaq-100 over very short horizons. Its sector reach spans information technology, communication services, consumer discretionary, health care, and other industries represented in the index. Managed by ProShare Advisors LLC and launched in 2010, ProShares UltraPro Short QQQ plays a notable role in the U.S. leveraged and inverse ETF segment as a high-volume vehicle for intraday and short-term strategies tied to Nasdaq-100 volatility.
